Current mood:tired

Mum had a Christmas in July party here tonight, and since my mother's friends are mostly the mothers of people I used to be friends with, I learned a bit about the present situations of some people I used to know.

Staggering oversimplifications aside, I made a list.

Classmate 1: Hairdresser
Classmate 4: Also a hairdresser.
Classmate 8: Nurse.
Classmate 9: Personal trainer.
Classmate 11: Retail.
Classmate 13: In serious need of help.
Classmate 16: Alternative model.
Classmate 17: Animal rescue.
Classmate 21: Primary school teacher.
Classmate 25: High school teacher.
Classmate 27: Physicist.
Classmate 28: Kicked out of the army.
Classmate 32: Has AIDS.

For the sake of completion there's also

Me: Natural therapist.

Sometimes I really don't know how we got from where we were ten years ago to where we are today. And it's like, "Well, Frankie, you sort of know that last one at least because you lived it." No, I have no idea what I'm trying to say here. It's something I wish I could put behind me, but I don't really have to think about it that often so maybe it's not a problem. It might be just a matter of building a present so shiny that it doesn't feel so bad to think about the past and all the people who used to walk beside me.
